Gowdy - Oconto, Wisconsin - submitted by Christine Gowdy - Jaehnig
Their is a Gowdy house in Oconto, WI used as a home for missionaries on furlough.  The Gowdy House belonged to Christine's grandparents, Vernon Eugene and Lois Violet (Cook) Gowdy. Vernon was a pastor in the Christian and Missionary Alliance church in a number of cities in MN and WI. When he retired, (after spending a number of years as caretaker of Camp Fred Locke Boys Club camp near Eagle, WI), he and my grandmother moved (probably in the late 1970s) to Oconto, one of the places they had lived. My grandmother died in 1993, and my grandfather moved to Florida, donating the house to the church to be used as a home for missionaries on furlough. My grandfather died in 1995. They are both buried in a cemetary in Oconto.
