VERA GOWDY - June 30, 1994
Mrs. Ila Vera Gowdy, 75, of Blue Mountain died June 24, 1994, 7:30 p.m., at
Baptist Memorial Hospital East in Memphis, Tenn. She was the widow of Lester Lee
Gowdy. She was a member of West Ripley Church of Christ and a homemaker.
Services were held Monday, June 27 1994, 10 a.m., at McBride Funeral Home Chapel with Ministers Jerry Owen and Tom Childers officiating. Burial was in Blue Mountain Cemetery with McBride Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include five daughters, Gloria Ann Kesterson, Brighton, Tenn., Janie Lee Smith, Ramonia McAlister and Dinah Hancock, all of Blue Mountain, and Linda Smith, Zion, Ill; four sisters, Lois Tega, Ashland, Flora Jamieson, Blue Mountain, Norma Clayton, Walnut and Sammie Crider, Covington, La; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were David Bennett, Ray Crawford, Jack Ohler, Eddie Goudy, Jimmy Pipkin, and Barry Grisham.
