LESTER LEE GOWDY - August 28, 1980
Lester Lee Gowdy, 62, of Blue Mountain died Tuesday, August 19, 1980 in the North Miss. Medical Center, Tupleo.

He was a native of Tippah County, and a member of the West Ripley Church of Christ.  Mr. Gowdy was retired from the ICG Railroad, Memphis where he was employed for approximately 25 years.

Services were held Wednesday, August 20, at 2:00 p.m. in McBride Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Blue Mountain Cemetery. Bro. Malcolm George officiated, assisted by Bro. Jerry Owen and Bro. J. L Pipkin.

He is survived by his wife; Mrs. Ila Carmichael Gowdy, Blue Mountain; five daughters, Mrs. Roger, McAlister, Mrs. Kenneth Smith, Mrs. Linda Alsup, all of Blue Mountain; Mrs. Tony Huddleston of Ripley, and Mrs. Don Kesterson, of Memphis; three brothers, Rayburn Gowdy, R. B. Gowdy, Jr., both of Blue Mountain, and Ernest Gowdy of West Point; one sister, Mrs. Claude Bennett, Blue Mountain; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Bobby Lefler, Gerry Smith, Barry Grisham, Johnny Wilbanks, Ray Crawford, David Bennett, Jimmy Pipkin, and Jack Ohler.
