BILLIE GOWDY - November 23, 1933, Southern Sentinel
Billie Gowdy, age 75, passed away at his home several miles east of Ripley early Sunday morning.  He had been in ill health for two or three years, and had been seriously ill for some time.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. S. T. Ledbetter and Rev. John Humphrey.  A large number of friends and relatives attended the funeral.  Mr. Gowdy was a splendid Christian gentleman, who was highly respected by all who knew him.  He was well known in Tippah county, having spent the most of his life in the eastern part of the county, in the Dumas and Mitchell communities.

Mr. Gowdy is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. Arthur Smith, Mrs. Richard Hurt, Mrs. Robert Morton, and Clifford Gowdy, all of this county and Robert Gowdy and Carl Gowdy, both of Akron, Ohio. Their many friends deeply sympathize with the members of his family in the loss of their loved one.
