A. E. GOWDY, JR.

Blue Mountain, Miss., January 26 - Funeral service for A. E. Gowdy, Jr., will be held here Tuesday or Wednesday in the home of his father, Arch E. Gowdy, Sr.  The Rev. Clifford J. Smyly, pastor of Lowrey Memorial Baptist Church, will be in charge. Burial will be in Blue Mountain Cemetery. A. E. Gowdy, Jr., died in Boston, Mass., at week's end.  He had been suffering for some time from ulcers of the stomach, but his death was unexpected.

A. E. Gowdy, Jr., was born in Blue Mountain.  He was the son of Arch E and Sallie Godwin Gowdy.  He attended Mississippi Heights Academy here.  He worked in Memphis, later joining the Marine Corps. He later lived in St. Louis, Mo.  A year or so ago, he went to Boston, Mass., where he was in the mechanical department of the Baltimore and Maryland R. R. He was a Baptist. He was 41.

Mr. Gowdy is survived by his father, Arch. E. Gowdy, Sr., of Blue Mountain and three brothers, Herbert Gowdy and Leon Gowdy of Memphis and Sam Godwin Gowdy of New Orleans, La., and a half brother, James Gowdy, of Charlotte, N.C.  R. L. Nance & Co. has charge of funeral arrangements.
