Will of James Gowdy of Williamsburg District, being very sick and weak in body.  All my personal estate to be sold at public Vandue, and moneys arising to be put out at interest for the benefit of my two children, Mary Francis Gowdy and James Malcomson Gowdy.  All my Lands to be sold, and moneys arising to be put out at interest for the benefit of my two children.  Money to be equally divided between my two children when either of them marries or when they arrive at the age of twenty-one.  If either should die before twenty-one, the whole estate to the survivor.  If both should die, then the whole of my estate to be equally divided between the children of my  brother Ebenezer Gibson and the children of my sister Francis McConnel.  My trusty friends Gavin Witherspoon and James McBride executors.  5 Dec. 1806.
